Bwindi National Park
Well magnificent verdant swathe across a steep ridges in the Albertine Rift Valley in the western part of the country, this is ancient rainforest- one of the few in Africa to have flourished throughout the last Ice Age-is the home to half of the world’s mountain gorillas.
Murchison Falls National Park (MFNP)
is the largest of all national parks in protected chunk of untamed African savannah divided by the River Nile. It is named for the dramatic Murchison Falls , where the world’s longest river explodes violently through a narrow cleft in the Rift valley escarpment to Plunge into a frothing pool 40m below.
Queen Elizabeth National Park (QENP)
One of the Uganda’s most visited lies in an open savannah to rainforest, from dense papyrus swamps and brooding crater lakes to the vastness of Lakes Edward and George, it is little wonder that QENP boasts one of the highest biodiversity ratings of any game park in the world.
Mt Elgon National Park.
An extinct Mt Elgon is fast emerging as a popular destination for short days trekking, compared to the long days of climbing the Rwenzori Mountains or Mt Kilmanjaro in Tanzania
Kibale National Park
The most accessible of Uganda ’s major rain forest, the only park with remarkable 13 primate species, including the much localized red colobus and L’Hoest’s monkey and the highest population of chimpanzees.
Kidepo valley National park
Though Isolated from the mainstream of the harsh plains of Mount Elgon, Kidepo is one of Africa’s great wilderness area that has rugged savannah and dominated by the 2,750m Mount Morungole, transected by the Kidepo and Narus Rivers .
Lake Mburo National Park (LMNP)
Lake Mburo National Park is situated Lyantonde and Mbarara Districts. It’s about 4 hours drive from Kampala . Lies in one part of the Uganda covered is extensive acacia woodland, making have a different fauna compared to other parks and reserves.
Mgahinga Gorilla National Park (MGNP)
This small national park protects the Ugandan portion of the Virungas, chain of six extinct and three sporadically active volcanoes which follows the borders with Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Rwenzori Mountains National Park
The 120 km Rwenzori chain is regarded to be legendary snow-capped mountains of the moon, described by Ptolemy in A.D150. Reaching an elevation of 5,109m, it is also Africa’s tallest mountain range, exceeding an altitude only by the two standing Mount Kenya and Kilimanjaro.
Semuliki National Park
It is situated in the extreme west of Uganda , in Budibugyo District. It lies along the Uganda / Democratic Republic of Congo border on the western arm of the East African Rift Valley.
