UGANDA

UGANDA

Uganda is one of the most beautiful countries in Africa, with fantastic natural scenery, half the world’s remaining mountain gorilla populations and some of the friendliest people you could hope to meet. It offers world-class white –water rafting at the source of the Nile and some of the region’s more peaceful national parks, where wildlife viewing doesn’t involve long waits in line behind a dozen or more vehicles.

However, Uganda’s long string of tragedies after independence has featured in the Western media to such an extent that some people probably still regard the country as dangerously unstable. The reality is vastly different. Stability has returned to most parts of the country and tourists are welcomed with open arms. Kampala is a modern, bustling capital city , the engine driving one of the fastest-growing  economies on the continent, and other towns are hitching a ride- the change has been quite astounding.

Uganda is a safe and friendly country to visit, although it remains wise to avoid the north as long as problems there persist, and exercise care when traveling to regions bordering Cong (Zaire).

The natural attractions are among the best in the region and as tourism is still being re-established, there simply aren’t the crowds found elsewhere. Take your pick from the highest mountain ranges in Africa, the Rwenzori mountains; one of the most power full waterfalls in the world, Murchison falls; or perhaps the highest primate density in the world in Kibale  Forest National Park- Uganda has all this and more. It’s a beautiful country with a great deal to offer and sooner or later the tourist hordes will ‘discover its delights’- make sure you get here before they do you know what that means- cheap prices.
