NGAMBA ISLANDS CHIMPANZEE SAFARI TOUR
Ngamba Islands safaris
It’s located on Lake Victoria about 23km south of Entebbe. Its part of the Koome group of Islands located in Mukono District. This island has a project of the Chimpanzee Sanctuary and Wildlife Conservation Trust (CSWCT) and is currently a home of more than 40 orphaned chimpanzees.
When to visit: It can be visited throughout the year. Day and overnight excursions can be arranged from the mainland.
Activities:-
• Morning and afternoon feeding of the chimpanzees viewed from the visitors’ raised platform.
• Forest walks done with the help of trained CSWCT staff for safety reasons.
• Sports and Games at the island
• Bird watching of numerous of bird species found at this island.
• Visit to the fishing village’s en route from Ngamba Island to the mainland.
Accommodation in Ngamba Islands: Tented accommodation is available for overnight visitors.
Chimpanzee tracking in Ngamba Island
Day 1
In the morning after breakfast drive off to Entebbe to be transferred to Ngamba Island that forms part of the Kome archipelago for Chimpanzee tracking. You will reach in time for feeding the chimps. Take photographs and then explore the island for monitor lizards, otters and variety of bird species.
Having finished exploring the island you will leave the island to drive to Ssezibwa falls a place known to have been the favourite place of some kings of Buganda . Take photographs of the falls, look out for birds. Overnight at Sheraton Hotel/ Serena Hotel .
