Uganda Fauna
Uganda is a home to more than half the world’s mountain gorilla populations, and viewing them in their natural habitats is one of the most popular attractions for visitors to this country. For more information on these gentle creatures, their habitat, where to consider trekking to them and the do’s and don’ts once there check out for the parks with gorillas. Uganda is a fantastic country for bird life, with more than 1000 species recorded in a country the size of Britain . It is one of the best bird-watching destinations in Africa (if not the world), and it is quite possible to see several species during a two week visit, with a keen eye, some binoculars and a field guide of course. For bird –watchers coming to Uganda , the shoebill stork are one of the most sought –after birds, but there are many other rare and interesting species to be seen throughout the country. When asked about his first visit, one enraptured enthusiast simply said: “I was so awe-struck; it took me a full week just to close my mouth again!”
As you might expect with abundant and varied birdlife, the diversity of Uganda ’s terrain is astounding too. Vast open plains, deep forests, volcanoes, snow-capped mountains and deserts all make this small, equatorial country quite unique in its richness. Many first-time visitors are able to notch up to 500 species or more in a single three-week visit! And a good number of these are difficult or impossible to find anywhere else at all. A trip to Uganda present plenty of riches.
